Term 4, Week 1
Hi Parents and
Students,
Firstly, I
would like to say a BIG WELCOME BACK! It’s great to finally enjoying some
warmer weather. Secondly, I would like to say GO THE EAGLES – PREMIERS 2018!
Such an exciting game to watch with a great result to match.
Quote of the Week:
WEDNESDAY PHOTO SHOOT:
In preparation
for the Graduation dinner, the children will be getting a group shot taken by
some Year 5 parents on Wednesday afternoon.
PEACE POSTER:
Each year the
Lion’s Club involve the Year 6’s with an international Peace Poster
competition. This year’s theme is ‘Kindness Matters”. Your child may come home
to discuss the theme and get any possible ideas for their art work.
Brainstorming and drafting their art work can be done at home but the actual
artwork will be completed at home. The due date for the completed artwork is
Monday 22nd October.
MUSICAL DVD:
If you are
looking to order a Jungle Book DVD, please see Fran in the office or visit the
school website to complete your order.
Literacy:
Under
this section you will find the literacy learning intentions for the week.
CAFÉ-R (Traits of good readers)
We will
focusing on finding similarities and differences within the texts that we read.
To understand what we read, we sometimes need to think about how things are
alike or how they are different and to make comparisons.
Voices (Traits of good writers)
The students
will begin to break down the structure and language features of a narrative
this week. After completing this, we will move on to creating a setting, building
a character and developing a plot. The students will use the work they have
completed on the setting, characters and plot as the basis for their own
narratives.
Numeracy
Under
this section you will find the Numeracy learning intentions for the week.
We are investigating
coordinates this week. Students will also be encouraged to revise their Term 3 work
this week. Thursday will be used as a revision lesson in preparation for the
test on Friday.
HOME LEARNING:
Now that the
musical is finally behind us, home learning will go back to some normality. The
children will not receive a Home
Learning Grid though. Home learning will go on a day-by-day basis. At the end
of each day, we will be writing in our diaries together and any learning should be completed that night ready
for school the next day.
If your child
is unable to complete the set tasks due to any after school commitments, they
will be required to complete it with the following day’s home learning or alternatively they can use the 8:30am - 8:45am time before school to complete some tasks.
Enjoy the rest
of the week!
