Peron Reserve Excursion Note - Digital Copy
29th
February 2015
Dear
Parents,
RE:
Peron Reserve Excursion
On
Friday we welcomed guest speaker, Mary Hughes, to discuss the importance of our
local water ways and preserving the local environment. Mrs Hughes is one of the
founding members of the ‘Friends of Peron Reserve Organisation’.
Each
year, Mrs Hughes invites the Year 6 students to go to visit the local site, Peron
Reserve. The children assist in painting the viewing platform with linseed oil
and turpentine for its preservation. The students will also be shown the local
flora and fauna by Mrs Hughes, who will also explain about the importance of
looking after the waterways in our local community.
On
Friday, 11th March at
1.30pm, the students will depart after lunch, by bus to Peron Reserve.
The children will then spend the afternoon cleaning and oiling the Observation
Deck. We will return to school by 2.45pm.
The students will need to bring an old
shirt to wear if they do not already have an art shirt at school to use
for painting.
If
you are able to join us, your assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Could
you please fill in the permission slip below and return to school by Monday 7th
March. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to come and see me.
Yours
sincerely,
Caitlin
Delane.
