Things Are Changing Note

Hi Parents, The following note will be sent home with your child tomorrow. 28th November, 2019 Dear Year Six Parents, Re: Health and next Religious Education Unit to be explored in Year Six Term 4 The basic purpose for which God created the human body is so that human beings can express the love and the goodness within them. Sexuality is the distinctive ways males and females express love and goodness through their thoughts, feelings, bodies and relationships. The next Religious Education unit begins by exploring the Catholic understanding of sexuality. It focuses in particular upon the special way husband and wives express their sexuality in the Sacrament of Marriage. The unit introduces to the children ways in which Jesus always expresses love and goodness through his body. It then presents how he makes his followers ‘new creatures’ through Baptism so that they can do the same. The Rite of Baptism and symbols used during the Baptismal ceremony will also be e

Term 4, Week 7

Hi Parents, Sorry for the delay in blog posts. I hope everyone had a great weekend! A bit of good news: I recently became an uncle for the sixth time. My brother welcomed little Matilda in to the world and all is well. Quote of the Week: Mary MacKillop Orientation Day: Students attending Mary MacKillop next year will be spending Thursday at the college. I know some kids are catching the bus with their older siblings or peers. This is a great opportunity for the kids to show a little independence and responsibility. If you’re planning on dropping your child off, it might be an idea to get in contact with some other parents to organise a group of them to catch the bus together. Best of luck to both students and parents! IPADS: There have been a number of students arriving at school with uncharged iPads. It is really difficult to charge more than one iPad at a time, so if your child’s iPad is flat, they may be restricted in what they can do for the day. Pl

If your child asks you for it, can you please hand write a note that says: 'I give my child _________________________ permission to attend the Year 7 2019 testing day on Friday 9th November 2018. Thank you, Mr Jones

Mini Vinnies

Hi Parents, For the month of November, Mrs Derricks walks a handful of Year 6 students to the church to help with any cleaning that is needed. This will occur every Wednesday between recess and lunch. The plan is to give each student the opportunity to volunteer their time to help out the local community. Please let me know if you did not want your child to participate during this time. Kind regards, Mr Jones

The Martin's home address: 20 Wylarah Way, Quindalup Please be there before 5:30pm for a prompt start.  Boys are bringing a plate of something savoury and girls are bringing a plate of something sweet. If your plate requires heating on the night can I suggest that you arrive a little earlier and bring it on a dish that can go straight into the oven. I have told the kids to BYO plates, cups, serviettes and cutlery. This will help our environment and help the Martin Family with any washing up. BYO drinks. Please be aware that this is an alcohol free event. The Mass will take place on a grassed area. You might like to bring a picnic rug and/or some camping chairs.  Thank you, look forward to seeing you all there! Mr Jones

Term 3 Numeracy Holiday Revision Booklet

Hi Parents, I have made up a numeracy revision booklet for the kids over the holidays. It is not compulsory, however it would be beneficial for your child to practise the different concepts. They can also access the different concepts we have covered this term via Mathletics. Your child has either been given a hard copy of the booklet or they can access it through their Numeracy folder on One Note. Enjoy the holidays, wherever you may be, and I'll see you all next term! Kind regards, Mr Jones

Behaviour Notifications

Hi parents, The Leadership Team and Staff of OLC have reviewed our school behaviour policy over the last few weeks and as a result, behaviour notifications are being implemented for low-level behaviours. This means, that teachers will be able to assign a behaviour notification to a child if they have exhausted their multiple warnings to curb the undesirable behaviour/s, that are not aligned with our school values. If your child receives a behaviour notification, they will be required to follow a teacher on duty for 5, 10, 15 or 20 minutes and have it signed before returning it to the classroom teacher. If a student in Year 6 receives one, I will send you a SEQTA message with a brief reason as to why they received the infringement. I ask that you support my decision in giving the behaviour notification and discuss your child’s behaviour with them before they return to school the next day. For serious behaviour, normal protocols will be followed. More information on the OLC

Hi everybody! GO THE EAGLES!!! Quote of the Week: SPORTS UNIFORM: The children are allowed to wear their sports uniform for the remainder of the week due to the musical. MUSICAL: A note from Mrs Delane. Good afternoon parents, Musical week has arrived and I just thought I would send out a couple of reminders so that we are all in the right place at the right time! I know I am having trouble keeping track of everything going on at the moment. Just to be clear, the Year 5/6 parents are providing supper for the audience for both nights. We have fruit platters to be brought in for the cast as well as pizzas from Domino’s for Intermission. These will be ham and cheese and margherita flavour. Hi everybody! What a cracker weekend! Sun was shining and the Eagles secured 2 home finals! Quote of the Week: The Amazing Nautical Race: The kids have been busy searching the classroom for clues over the past week and these clues have taken them to different locations around the world. Have a chat to your child regarding the race and what it all means. Family Camp Artwork: The students have been asked to come up with the logo for the 2018 Family Camp at Donnelly River. If your child is participating, they will need their artwork completed by Friday, 31 st August. Confirmation Cake: The children wanted to say a big thank you to Mrs Buxcey for organising the cake (which was very yummy!) and to any of the parents that helped out during the preparation for Confirmation. Special mention to Sue-Ellen for providing her talents with a pen and writing the candidates names on their certificates. It really was a a whole community effort to prepare all of th

Jungle Book Helpers

Dear Parents, The Jungle Book production is soon to be upon us. Most things are progressing steadily but of course, as per usual, I am starting to stress a little as there are still many things to do! The children have been great and are really getting into the swing of the story and music. However, please help at home by making sure they listen and sing with their CD each evening and of course learn any lines for the script. We are blessed to have Tammi and Sherylee as they do have the costumes under control and you have been alerted to anything else you need to provide. Just a reminder of our dates; Tuesday 11 th matinee, at 1.00pm.  (We will require helpers for make up etc on this day) Thursday 13 th , Friday 14 th , commencing at 7pm. Apparently we are experimenting with buying our tickets online this year, more info soon.  Prices are as previous years. $15 per adult, $5 per child. I will be in touch again as things come up!! Thanks for your valuable
