Welcome to Week 5!

Good afternoon, It has been a great start to the week with the students settling into work beautifully this morning. I am sure they are all very worn out after a busy few weeks! REMINDERS Year 6 Leadership Retreat - this is on this Friday 3rd March beginning after assembly at 9.30am. Students are to wear free dress on this day.  Our lunch coordinators have put together a menu which I have placed on the board in our room. If you can please add your name to it by Wednesday afternoon. Your child can take a photo on their iPad to bring home and you can let them know what you can do and then they can write your name down. A massive thank you to all for your help with this, it is greatly appreciated! 22 nd February 2017 Dear Parents, RE: Peron Reserve Excursion On Wednesday we welcomed guest speaker, Mary Hughes, to discuss the importance of our local water ways and preserving the local environment. Mrs Hughes is one of the founding members of the ‘Friends of Peron Reserve Organisation’. Each year, Mrs Hughes invites the Year 6 students to go to visit the local site of Peron Reserve. The children assist in painting the viewing platform with linseed oil and turpentine for its preservation. The students will also be shown the local flora and fauna by Mrs Hughes, who will also explain about the importance of looking after the waterways in our local community. On Friday, 10 h March at 1.15pm , the students will depart after lunch, by bus to Peron Reserve. The children will then spend the afternoon cleaning and oiling the Observation Deck. We will return to school by 2.45pm. The students will need to bring an old shirt to wear if they do not already have an art

Week 4 Update

Good morning, Welcome to Week 4, I hope that you had a chance to enjoy the gorgeous weather over the weekend! Whole School Mass - A big thank you to all the parents that were able to make it to Mass on Friday morning. I was very impressed with the students and the leadership that they showed. I have added some of the photos that were taken to the blog and I will get them to the students individually over the coming days. Here are a few! REMINDERS Headphones - please make sure your child has a pair to be used at school. Swimming Trials - these are on tomorrow morning (21st February). We will leave school at 9.20am and return at approximately 11am. Your child can wear their sports uniform - don't forget thongs and will need towels, goggles etc in their bag. The day will continue as normal once we return to school so please make sure that they bring their iPad and homework etc. Swimming Carnival - this will be held this Thursday 21st Februa

Welcome to Week 3

Good afternoon, Welcome to the start of a new week! A huge thank you to you all for making sure that your child is prepared for swimming each day. The students are enjoying their lessons and are working hard when we come back to the school, they are a great advertisement for our school! REMINDERS Mass  - Friday 17th February - we will be celebrating our whole school mass on Friday...we will be walking down to church for Mass to begin at 9.30am. Our student leaders will be receiving their badges that have been blessed during Mass, it would be wonderful to see as many parents as possible in attendance. Swimming Trials and Carnival  - these will be held on Tuesday 21st February - further details will follow. Please make sure that your child comes with their swimming gear on this day. Our carnival will be on Thursday 23rd February at Geographe Leisure Centre. Headphones  - please make sure that your child has a pair of headphones that can come to school - preferably that can stay here

Leadership Retreat Note - Digital Copy

8 th February 2017 Dear Silver Room Parents, Re: Year 6 Leadership Retreat – Friday 3 rd March As a Year 6 Leadership Group, we have been offered the opportunity for Mrs Sue Barton to come in and run a half day workshop with the students. This workshop helps them to explore the concept of leadership, what it means to them and how they can contribute in a leadership role for 2017. This will be held on Friday 3 rd March beginning at 9am and concluding at approximately 1.30pm. This will be held in the Hall here at school. Students will be allowed to wear free dress on this day . We will have a shared lunch on this day to conclude the workshop. I am looking for some parents to coordinate the shared lunch leading up to and on the day. Lunch would be served at approximately 12.30pm. If you are able to liaise with other parents in organising the food to be served I would be most appreciative. Leavers Shirts 2017 - Digital Copy

­ 9 th February 2017 Dear Silver Room Parents, Re: Graduation Shirts It has been decided that for our Leavers Shirts this year we will use our existing OLC Polo Shirt. The students will design and then vote on a piece of art for the shirt which will appear with our school crest on the front, and “Graduates 2017” along with our chosen artwork and student names on the back. You have two options in regards to the shirt: You can provide a clean and tidy polo shirt that your child may already have OR You can purchase a new polo shirt from the uniform shop costing $20. Please send your child’s shirt with their name clearly written on it by Friday 24 th February . The total cost for the work to be done on the shirts is $11.00 . The artwork will be done through Hip Pocket in Busselton. Can you please put the exact money ($11) in an envelope with your child’s name on it. Week 2 Update

Good afternoon and welcome to our blog for this week! The students have started the week brilliantly and I am so pleased with the attitude and effort that they are displaying. They are shaping up to be an excellent leadership group! REMINDERS   Parent Information Evening - this is on tomorrow night 7th February beginning at 5.30pm and running for approximately 1 hour. Please let me know via email if you are unable to make it. Swimming Lessons - these begin on Friday. Students are to wear sports uniform for the duration of swimming lessons.  Thongs may be worn to and from the pool but students must come in their sneakers to school. Guitar Lessons - these will be held on Thursday afternoons 2 - 3pm. Your child will need to bring their guitar with them to school on that day and take them over to the hall on arrival at school. They are also expected to take them home to practise. I unfortunately do not have the space for guitars to be left in class. Please see the below
