Peron Reserve Excursion Note - Digital Copy

22nd February 2017

Dear Parents,

RE: Peron Reserve Excursion

On Wednesday we welcomed guest speaker, Mary Hughes, to discuss the importance of our local water ways and preserving the local environment. Mrs Hughes is one of the founding members of the ‘Friends of Peron Reserve Organisation’.

Each year, Mrs Hughes invites the Year 6 students to go to visit the local site of Peron Reserve. The children assist in painting the viewing platform with linseed oil and turpentine for its preservation. The students will also be shown the local flora and fauna by Mrs Hughes, who will also explain about the importance of looking after the waterways in our local community.

On Friday, 10h March at 1.15pm, the students will depart after lunch, by bus to Peron Reserve. The children will then spend the afternoon cleaning and oiling the Observation Deck. We will return to school by 2.45pm. The students will need to bring an old shirt to wear if they do not already have an art shirt at school to use for painting.

If you are able to join us, your assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Could you please fill in the permission slip below and return to school by Tuesday 7th March. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to come and see me.

Yours sincerely,

Caitlin Delane.
