Term 3, Week 3


Hi Parents,

I hope you all enjoyed your weekend even though the Eagles didn’t have a win! Well done to all the Confirmation candidates and their parents that affirmed their commitment to the receiving of this special Sacrament.

The year 4’s and the year 6’s will be welcoming new students tomorrow!

Over the next 5 weeks, Alicia ( year 4) and Laura ( year 6) will be immersing themselves in the Australia / Dunsborough lifestyle. The girls are cousins to Gabriela and Olivia McGinley and they can’t wait to learn more about our school and way of living. It will also be a fantastic opportunity for the students to learn more about the Spanish culture.

Literacy:

Under this section you will find the literacy learning intentions for the week.
CAFÉ-R (Traits of good readers)

All section one activities of our Novel Studies are due tomorrow. The children will begin reading chapter’s 4 – 6 of their novels and begin completing the comprehension questions ready for next Monday.

The comprehension strategy we will focus on this week is, understanding words’. As words are the building blocks for communicating with one another, if we don’t understand the words we are reading, meaning will be lost.

Voices (Traits of good writers)
We will begin exploring procedures this week, so that the students will be able to write one about the ceremony for the Sacrament of Confirmation.

Numeracy
Under this section you will find the Numeracy learning intentions for the week.

The students completed their Term 2 Numeracy Assessment on Friday. Due to camp and other interruptions, we were running slightly behind schedule with our Numeracy program. This week, we will be looking at rounding and estimating and next week we will be investigating time applications.

Home Learning Grid:
A new home learning grid will be given out tomorrow. Please note that there is a new section for the novel study. This will be due Friday 10th August. Remember that your signature is now required in your child’s diary.

Term 1, Week 9

Hi Parents and students, What a great weekend to be down south! So special to be able to witness such a unique swell direction and see the whole coastline light up. Can’t wait for the next cyclone swell in 9 years! Affirmation of the Week: Camp: I am still on the hunt for some dad volunteers for the Year 6 camp. Let me know if you are interested. Chrism Mass: Please make sure your child has brought their permission slip into me tomorrow morning. Some children have suggested that they have misplaced their note. I have said to them to have Mum or Dad write a note that they give them permission to travel by bus, to and from St Patrick’s Cathedral in Bunbury. Please refer to the ‘Chrism Mass Blog’ for any other info. Holy Week: The Year 5’s and 6’s will be presenting their part of Holy Week celebrations on Wednesday morning at 9:00am in the hall. Final Reminders for Tomorrow

Good afternoon, Just a couple of reminders for tomorrow... Students are to come in free dress with clothing appropriate for the beach...thongs are fine.  Please make sure your child comes with suncream already applied, packed recess and lunch, towel and a hat. All students must wear a rashie! We will arrive at the beach at 11.45am. We will have lunch when we arrive and then we will hit the activities. You are welcome to join us for any part of the day...your child permitting!! We will be departing at approximately 2.30pm to come back to school.  Reports will be handed to the students back at school at the end of the day. Students are welcome to bring their Leavers shirts and graduation books to be signed. They can bring iPads to get the last of the photos from Tuesday...they will be deleted on Monday.
