Term 4, Week 3

Hi Parents,

Welcome to my first normal blog post for Term Four. It feels good to have ticked the camp and Confirmation boxes in quick succession, however, the job is nowhere near complete. Please find some important information in regards to the learning over the next couple of weeks.

Quote of the Week:

SACRAMENT OF CONFIRMATION
A massive congratulations to the 12 candidates that received the Sacrament on Saturday night. It really was a beautiful service and I am sure you a super proud of your children. Another massive thank you to the prayer buddies and parents who came along on the night to show their support.

USING CLASS TIME WISELY

“The holidays are over!” “It is time to put in your best effort”

I have had a chat with the kids today about switching back into school mode and the importance of using time in class wisely and striving for excellence in everything that we do. If I feel your child hasn’t put in their best effort to complete a piece of work or hasn’t completed an activity (when I have allocated sufficient time) they will be doing so during their lunch break in the library. Any work that still hasn’t been completed will be done so at home and due in the next morning. If your child has spent any time during their break to complete work, you will receive a SEQTA message alerting you to this. If you receive a message, please talk to your child in regards to this matter. Thank you.

SOCKTOBER

This Friday we will be holding a ‘Rock your socks off’ dance party during the lunch break for Socktober to mark World Mission Month with the theme "Do not Fear I am with You". Children and staff are invited to wear crazy socks and make a gold coin contribution on the day to raise money for Catholic Mission Australia.

HOME LEARNING / DIARIES
A new fortnight of home learning has begun. Please take the time to sit down with your child and discuss their planning for the next two weeks.

The following should be included in the diary:

Students Choose When:
·       Mental Maths (Unit 27 and 28)
·       Spelling (Definitions and 1 spelling activity – per list)

Home Life:

·       2 x technology free afternoons

Please ensure that your child is ticking their diary once an activity has been completed.

Under this section you will find the literacy learning intentions for the week.

Voices (Traits of good writers)
We will be exploring explanations this term and working towards writing a piece that will explain how early explorers navigated their ships.

This week, we are investigating chance and probability and next week we will be focusing on transformation, tessellation and symmetry.
