Term 4, Week 7

Hi Parents,

Sorry for the delay in blog posts. I hope everyone had a great weekend! A bit of good news: I recently became an uncle for the sixth time. My brother welcomed little Matilda in to the world and all is well.

Quote of the Week:

Mary MacKillop Orientation Day:

Students attending Mary MacKillop next year will be spending Thursday at the college. I know some kids are catching the bus with their older siblings or peers. This is a great opportunity for the kids to show a little independence and responsibility. If you’re planning on dropping your child off, it might be an idea to get in contact with some other parents to organise a group of them to catch the bus together. Best of luck to both students and parents!

IPADS:

There have been a number of students arriving at school with uncharged iPads. It is really difficult to charge more than one iPad at a time, so if your child’s iPad is flat, they may be restricted in what they can do for the day. Please remind your child to take responsibility for their learning and charge their iPad of a night time.

Balsa Boats:

I have been super impressed with some of the boats that are currently being constructed. If you get a spare minute, come in to the classroom to check out their work.

Graduation Dinner:

I have been instructed to pass on the following information in regards to the graduation dinner.

Please can you remind your Y6 families that the graduation dinner is an event for the graduating student and their parents.  In short, one Y6 child and 2 adults (usually parents).  Obviously if a parent cannot attend they can pick another family member.

Please can you also let families that we are providing one drink for the kids, but adults and any additional kids drinks are BYO.  We are providing water.
Thank you

Literacy:
Under this section you will find the literacy learning intentions for the week.

CAFÉ-R (Traits of good readers)
We will focusing on concluding. Conclusions are decisions we make by working something out. We make conclusions about what we read by finding facts and details in the text and deciding what they mean.

Voices (Traits of good writers)
We are in the process of editing and typing our final copies of our narratives. It has been extremely pleasing to see the growth the students have made from their first narrative at the beginning of the year.

Numeracy
Under this section you will find the Numeracy learning intentions for the week.

We will be exploring order of operations this week. ‘BIMDAS’ might ring a bell?

Enjoy the rest of the week!

Mr Jones
