Week 8

Good morning parents,

I hope that the week is going well, we are working very hard in Silver Room and the students are looking forward to the holidays. I hope that some of you are heading somewhere warm!

REMINDERS

Confirmation Parent Information Evening - This will be held on Wednesday 15th June beginning at 6pm. We ask that your child that is being Confirmed attends with you as this will be an interactive session to help you work together as a family to prepare your child to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation.

Confirmation Enrolment Mass - This will be held on Saturday 18th June at 6pm. All candidates and prayer buddies are asked to attend.

Bunbury Choir Eisteddfod - This will be held on Friday 17th June at the Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre. We are performing in the 10am session.

Students are asked to wear their winter uniform and be neat and tidy. Please make sure that you have booked in any haircuts before Friday!

Girls are asked to come to school if possible with their hair already braided. If you need assistance, Mrs Merifield will be available to assist. Please make sure that your daughter is wearing white socks - not tights and that shoes are neatly polished.

OUR LEARNING

During our Literacy lessons, we have been working very hard on our persuasive writing. We have been discussing if Graffiti should be legalised? Our good copies will be published soon and ready for display so come in and see if we can persuade you to see our point of view?

In our Design Technologies lessons, we have been looking at creating our own worm farms. The students will create their own worm farm and it will then be their responsibility to take care of their worms til the end of the year. This will include feeding them any scraps from their own recess and lunch to try to reduce the amount of food being wasted and the amount of landfill being created.

We will begin building these on Wednesday - the students will need to bring in all elements from home. They have been working hard to come up with a good design for their farms to keep their worms happy and healthy!

As part of our Art lessons we have been discussing the idea of graffiti as street art and how at times it can offer a comment on what is happening in the world at the moment.

The students have been asked to create their own piece of street art about an issue that they feel strongly about. They are really enjoying working on these and I look forward to seeing the end result!
