Week 7

Good morning everyone,

I will keep the post short this week as there is a lot happening!

Just a reminder that I am still looking for an additional dad and two mums willing to come to camp with us this year. We will be attending Woodman Point in Perth from Monday 15th May to Friday 19th May. Please let me know via email if you are able to help.

A very big thank you to all the parents that  came and helped out at Peron Reserve last Friday. It was a great experience for the students to be involved in a long running tradition and to be able to share it was great!

OUR LEARNING

Today we have Jess Andony coming in to speak with us about sustainable farming practices within the dairy industry. This has been the topic of our learning during our Design Technology lessons. The students will be asked to take notes during the presentation which will then help them to create a Pic Collage to share what they have learnt.

Students are continuing to work on their Narratives...we have created our plans and the students are now all busily drafting! They are finding it a challenging process as they continue to work on understanding what makes a really good narrative. Perhaps you can share some of your favourite stories and why you like them?

If you have time, perhaps read a simple story with your child and ask them to point out the orientation, the complication and the resolution. Ask them which characters they liked and why - look for examples of great descriptive writing.

During Maths we are looking at rounding and estimating...this is proving to be quite tricky but we are discussing real life examples of how using mental strategies can be helpful in addition and subtraction.

We have been spending a lot of time discussing the ways we can be really present and engaged during the season of Lent. I shared this clip with the students to highlight all of the ways that Jesus has sacrificed for us which keeps things in perspective when we are being asked to fast or give. Check it out!

On Friday 17th March, the Year 6 students will be sharing our Prayer Assembly. We will begin at 9am, all parents are invited to attend.
