SKILLS FOR LIFE
Every year, the Year Six students participate in a Surf Life Saving ‘Life Skills for Life’ program. Life Skills for Life is an interactive resuscitation workshop equipping students with the knowledge, skills and confidence to effectively respond in a first aid or emergency situation. The incursion will run from 9:00am -11:00am on Tuesday.

SWIMMING LESSONS
A reminder that the ‘white caps’ swimming stage will need to bring extra clothes with them on Wednesday.

HOME LEARNING / DIARIES
A new fortnight of home learning has begun. Please take the time to sit down with your child and discuss their planning for the next two weeks.

Literacy:
Under this section you will find the literacy learning intentions for the week.

CAFÉ-R (Traits of good readers)
This week, we will be focusing on questioning. Questioning is when readers question before, during and after the reading process to clarify meaning, make predictions, and identify what is important.

Voices (Traits of good writers)
The students will continue to explore poetry this week. We are beginning to write our own odes, limericks, haikus, cinquains, shape poems and acrostics. All this will lead into the creation of a simple ballad.

Numeracy
Under this section you will find the Numeracy learning intentions for the week.

We will be reviewing perimeter this week and scaffolding our understanding on this concept to find out the perimeter of composite shapes.

Final Reminders for Tomorrow

Good afternoon, Just a couple of reminders for tomorrow... Students are to come in free dress with clothing appropriate for the beach...thongs are fine.  Please make sure your child comes with suncream already applied, packed recess and lunch, towel and a hat. All students must wear a rashie! We will arrive at the beach at 11.45am. We will have lunch when we arrive and then we will hit the activities. You are welcome to join us for any part of the day...your child permitting!! We will be departing at approximately 2.30pm to come back to school.  Reports will be handed to the students back at school at the end of the day. Students are welcome to bring their Leavers shirts and graduation books to be signed. They can bring iPads to get the last of the photos from Tuesday...they will be deleted on Monday. Hi Parents and students, What a great weekend to be down south! So special to be able to witness such a unique swell direction and see the whole coastline light up. Can’t wait for the next cyclone swell in 9 years! Affirmation of the Week: Camp: I am still on the hunt for some dad volunteers for the Year 6 camp. Let me know if you are interested. Chrism Mass: Please make sure your child has brought their permission slip into me tomorrow morning. Some children have suggested that they have misplaced their note. I have said to them to have Mum or Dad write a note that they give them permission to travel by bus, to and from St Patrick’s Cathedral in Bunbury. Please refer to the ‘Chrism Mass Blog’ for any other info. Holy Week: The Year 5’s and 6’s will be presenting their part of Holy Week celebrations on Wednesday morning at 9:00am in the hall. Good afternoon, Welcome to Week 6...I can't believe how quickly the term is getting away from us! Notes - Graduation Dinner, iMovie Night & Adventure World Thank you to those who have returned notes. If you have any to return, can you please send them in by the due date. I have placed copies of all notes sent home last week on the blog. At this stage you can't print them off directly so please see me if you need another copy. Mackillop Orientation Day - 25th November - I will put on the blog a copy of the letter (in a separate post) that was sent home by Mr Ben Horrocks a few weeks ago for your reference. For those students not attending Mackillop in 2016, please note that your child is welcome to stay home and enjoy a day working on their Year Books. If your child will be coming on the day to OLC on the 25th November, can you please advise me as soon as possible.
