Week 6

Good morning parents,

Welcome to Week 6...!

Thank you all very much for the beautiful card and flowers that I received on Friday. It was greatly appreciated and unexpected...I did cry!

REMINDERS

Interschool Carnival - Just a reminder that this will be held on Thursday 2nd June in Bunbury. Students will need to come with the relevant protective gear for their sport - sticks, shin pads, mouthguards, appropriate footwear etc. Please make sure that they have plenty of food and water, simple things that they can munch on throughout the day is perfect.

Guitar - the students will not require their guitar for the remainder of the term on a Monday as they will be working on the script for Shrek.

Lost Property - If your child is missing a helmet, hat, jacket or water bottle. Please send them to check the lost property pile located in Mr Danaher's room.

Camp Photos - If you would like copies of the photos taken on camp, please send a large USB (empty) in with your child and I will copy them on for you.

OUR LEARNING

In our Literacy lessons we have been looking at persuasive writing and its purpose. The students are currently drafting a response to the question "Should graffiti be legalised?" It has prompted some very interesting discussion on both sides with the students having a mini debate on Thursday to put their position forward.

In our Maths lessons we have been looking at adding and subtracting fractions, converting improper fractions to mixed numbers and then completing the reverse. The students have been working very hard on these and are making great progress.

In our Health conversations, we have been talking about The Signposts of Puberty so that we can feel comfortable and prepared for the changes that are coming our way as well as discussing the male and female reproductive systems. I have been very pleased with the mature and responsible attitude that the students have displayed. We have had some great questions and the students are really enjoying the classes.

This year I have created with the students a card that they can use to help them if they are feeling uncomfortable with the content. The students have responded to this very positively as it is helping them to be respectful and independent learners.

Students are able to turn these over and then step outside to take a moment to compose themselves if they feel they need it.
