Week 8 Update

Good afternoon parents,

Welcome to week 8 of the term...we are getting close to the end of term but we are still working very hard!

I am in the process finalising my reports this week. If your child is receiving an overall D grade in any area I will be in touch with you over the coming days to schedule an interview to discuss this with you in more detail.

We will be beginning our Empowered by the Spirit - Confirmation Unit tomorrow. I will be setting a project for the students to work on to research the saint that they will be using as their inspiration during this important part of their faith journey.

All students will be researching a saint and will be expected to hand in a report even if they are not receiving the sacrament.

Students will receive an outline of their project tomorrow and we will go through it together. Reports will be due in Tuesday 18th July - Week 1 of Term 3.

Students will be given time to work on these during class but there is an expectation that they will work on them at home as well. I am looking for a report that reflects the child's understanding of the outline, please assist your child in completing this task independently.

REMINDERS

Eistedfodd - This is to be held on Friday 16th June beginning at 1.30pm. Please check with your child to make sure they have returned their permission slip.

Please remember that we will be back after the buses have departed from OLC so alternative arrangements to get your child home may need to be made. I will notify school once we are on the bus so they can update you with an estimated time of arrival.

Please make sure that your child comes neatly groomed (including hair cut) on Friday. They will need to wear their jumper for the performance so please make sure it comes with them.

If you are able to braid your daughter's hair, please do so. I am still looking for a couple of parents that are able to assist those who are challenged in the hair braiding department! Please let me know if you can assist - if your daughter will need her hair braided, please make sure she brings a brush, hair elastics and bobby pins if needed.

Last Thursday, the Year 5 and 6 students headed off to Bunbury to participate in the SWPSA Winter Carnival. We had two hockey teams, two soccer teams and one footy team. A massive thank you Warren Boyes and Simon Howard for coaching the soccer. Thanks to Dave Larsen who coached the footy boys and Lara Currie for coaching the other hockey team. All of the students had a fantastic day and certainly embodied our school values!

We have been continuing to work on our persuasive writing pieces during our literacy lessons and the students are presenting some strong arguments for their topic. I can't wait to read them!

During our maths lessons we have been looking at mass, the units of measure and how to write them. We have also been looking at converting tonnes to kilograms, kilograms to grams and grams to milligrams as well the other way.
