Week 2 Update

Good afternoon parents,

A very big thank you to those parents and students that attended our Commitment Mass on Saturday. I was very proud of the students and the attitude they demonstrated towards the mass.

I would also like to thank all the parents that came along to our Confirmation Parent Workshop - I hope that you enjoyed it as much as I did!!

REMINDERS

Confirmation Parent Letters - Please make sure that you are working on these. They are due in on Monday 31st July and will be given out at our retreat on Wednesday. Please make sure they are clearly labelled with your child's name.

Confirmation Retreat - Alisa Allison has kindly volunteered to coordinate morning tea and lunch on this day. She will be in touch with you all shortly to coordinate your contributions.

I am sure that she will also need helpers on the day if you are available. Morning tea will be at 11am and lunch will be served at 12.45pm through to approximately 1.15pm. We will walk down to Church after a quick play to rehearse for Saturday night before returning to school by 3.05pm

Musical Rehearsals - We will be conducting some rehearsals before school on Monday's, Tuesday's and Wednesday's beginning at 8.15am. Your child will be notified if they are required for a particular session. If you can get them to school as close to that time as possible we would be most appreciative.

Mrs Horrocks is now back from leave so if you have any costume questions, please feel free to come in and see her on the above days.

Inter-school Cross Country - There will be training tomorrow morning at 8am. Your child is to come to school dressed suitably for running and bring their uniform to change into.

Friendology Session - Week 4 - 11th August 10am - Shared Morning Tea.

This will be our last session, it has been a wonderful experience to work with these amazing young women to explore the tricky world of friendships.

During this session we will be sharing our 'Sole Activity' and we thought it would be nice if everyone could bring in a small plate of food to be shared as morning tea for the day. Some biscuits, slice, fruit, cheese and crackers etc are some easy ideas...we have approximately 25 girls in the group.

HOMEWORK - WEEK 2

After some interesting conversation with the students the past couple of weeks about homework, as a class we have agreed to trial the following for 3 weeks.

All spelling, maths and diaries (with parents signatures) are to be handed in on Thursday afternoon to be checked.

The students suggested and have agreed to the following consequences for not completing the assigned tasks - missing sport until all required parts are completed and not being able to listen to music for a period of 3 weeks (during which time all homework must be completed in full).

Any maths concepts that have been difficult will be covered in a session on Friday to make sure that the students have the help they need.

This conversation came about as we were talking about the importance of planning and managing their time to complete set work in preparation for a high school approach.

I have issued students with a bonus challenge to create a homework schedule that outlines their busy times and helps them to plan and organise their time to be able to relax and have time with their families as well as play sport and complete assigned tasks.

Reading - 10-15 minutes written in their diary and signed.

Spelling - LCWC for all list words. Please make sure their work is being done neatly.

Mental Maths - Unit 19 of Think Mentals Book 6 - Pages 56-57.

Friendology - Sole Activity - Due Week 4 11th August.

Year Books - I went through this with the students yesterday and they were given a copy of the outline. This is due Week 6 of Term 4 and will be worked on in class and at home.

Homework Schedule - This is a bonus challenge (not mandatory but would be very helpful) due in on Friday!

Have a fantastic week and stay dry!

Mrs Delane
