Term 4, Week 5


Hi Parents,

I can’t believe it is already Week 5! It looks like we have some real summer weather this week, so it should be a cracker!

CONFIRMATION HOME MASS
The Confirmation Home Mass will start at 5:30pm tomorrow at the Gannaway’s property (835 Commonage Rd).

Please bring the following with you:
·       Rugs / camping chairs etc
·       Plate of food (boys – savoury, girls – sweet)
·       BYO cool drinks / juice etc

A big thank you to Alice and Ken for offering to host. Much appreciated!

INTERSCHOOL CRICKET CARNIVAL
Both the Year 5 and Year 6 students will be participating in a fun day of cricket this Friday at Bovell Oval, Busselton. Parents are more than welcome to come down.

The weather is looking like it will be a warm and sunny day so please ensure your child comes to school with sunscreen on and the correct uniform on including a school hat.

Just a reminder that your child will need to bring food and drink for the entire day as there are no canteen facilities.

WHEELIE, WALKIE, WASTE-FREE WEDNESDAY
Just a reminder that this Wednesday is the final day to walk, ride or scoot to school. Try your best to fill your child’s lunch box with waste free products as the Year 6’s try and win the free excursion to round out their time at OLC.

HOME LEARNING / DIARIES
A new fortnight of home learning has begun. Please take the time to sit down with your child and discuss their planning for the next two weeks.

The following should be included in the diary:

Everyday:
·       Reading
·       LSCWC (x4 per list of words)
·       Times Tables
·       Physical Activity

Students Choose When:
·       Mental Maths (Unit 29 and 30)
·       Spelling (Definitions)

Home Life:
·       Teach you parents something (x2)
·       2 x technology free afternoons
·       Beach walk

Please ensure that your child is ticking their diary once an activity has been completed.

Literacy:
Under this section you will find the literacy learning intentions for the week.

Voices (Traits of good writers)
We have been researching the many different instruments that early explorers used to navigate their ships and have written a paragraph on each answering what it is? How it works? And how the explorer used it to navigate?

Numeracy
Under this section you will find the Numeracy learning intentions for the week.
This week, our focus is on volume and capacity.

Final Reminders for Tomorrow

Good afternoon, Just a couple of reminders for tomorrow... Students are to come in free dress with clothing appropriate for the beach...thongs are fine.  Please make sure your child comes with suncream already applied, packed recess and lunch, towel and a hat. All students must wear a rashie! We will arrive at the beach at 11.45am. We will have lunch when we arrive and then we will hit the activities. You are welcome to join us for any part of the day...your child permitting!! We will be departing at approximately 2.30pm to come back to school.  Reports will be handed to the students back at school at the end of the day. Students are welcome to bring their Leavers shirts and graduation books to be signed. They can bring iPads to get the last of the photos from Tuesday...they will be deleted on Monday. Week 6

Good afternoon, Welcome to Week 6...I can't believe how quickly the term is getting away from us! Notes - Graduation Dinner, iMovie Night & Adventure World Thank you to those who have returned notes. If you have any to return, can you please send them in by the due date. I have placed copies of all notes sent home last week on the blog. At this stage you can't print them off directly so please see me if you need another copy. Mackillop Orientation Day - 25th November - I will put on the blog a copy of the letter (in a separate post) that was sent home by Mr Ben Horrocks a few weeks ago for your reference. For those students not attending Mackillop in 2016, please note that your child is welcome to stay home and enjoy a day working on their Year Books. If your child will be coming on the day to OLC on the 25th November, can you please advise me as soon as possible. Term 1, Week 9

Hi Parents and students, What a great weekend to be down south! So special to be able to witness such a unique swell direction and see the whole coastline light up. Can’t wait for the next cyclone swell in 9 years! Affirmation of the Week: Camp: I am still on the hunt for some dad volunteers for the Year 6 camp. Let me know if you are interested. Chrism Mass: Please make sure your child has brought their permission slip into me tomorrow morning. Some children have suggested that they have misplaced their note. I have said to them to have Mum or Dad write a note that they give them permission to travel by bus, to and from St Patrick’s Cathedral in Bunbury.
