Week 8 - Holy Week

Good morning parents,

This week we are focused on the reflections of Holy Week. This is a very solemn and important time within our faith.

We will be sharing a reflection on Holy Thursday beginning at 9am in the Hall to be led by the Year 3 students. It would be wonderful to see as many parents there as possible.

Thank you for your attendance at Mass on Saturday night, it was a lovely chance to get together to celebrate such a special time in our church. I was very proud of all of the students and the mature and respectful way in which they conducted themselves.

REMINDERS

Chrism Mass - tomorrow the students and I will be travelling to Bunbury to attend the Chrism Mass at the Cathedral. We will be leaving school at 9.30am.

I will give students a chance to have some recess before we leave as they won't be back until approximately 1.30pm. We will have a small snack after Mass before boarding the bus to come back to school.

All students are to wear their Summer Uniform - please make sure that shoes are polished, uniforms are clean and hair is washed and tidy.

We will have 3 students representing OLC during the mass in carrying up the oils - Molly Greaves, Polly Higgins and Sam Phillips. This is a very special honour!

Interschool Swimming Carnival - this will be held on Wednesday 23rd March. We wish those students representing OLC all the very best.

Those students that are remaining behind will continue with our learning as usual.

Easter Egg Raffle Donations - thank you to those that have generously donated this year. If you have not got your donation in as yet, can you please do so as soon as possible as we will be helping to wrap and bundle the prizes this week.

If you have not returned your tickets - please do so as soon as possible. You've got to be in it to win it!

iPad Charger Recall - just a reminder that those needing to swap a charger can do so with Mrs Johnson today (Monday) or on Thursday this week. A note was sent home last Thursday in regards to this.

Parent Teacher Interviews - please make sure that you have secured a time for us to meet in Week 10 to discuss your child's progress. A hard copy of the note outlining my availability will go home with your child today.

IN OUR CLASS

The past week has been very busy! We celebrated Crazy Socks Day in celebration of our uniqueness in how we look, what we like but to remind us that we are all people, we all have our interests and we all belong to the same school community!

I even channelled my inner tourist to get in on the action!

We also received our Leavers Shirts for 2016. They look amazing and we are very proud of them. Thank you to Abbey Hodge for her fantastic design!

We would also like to thank Mr Mark Phillips from Hip Pocket Workwear for his assistance in the creation of our amazing shirts!

Mr Wilkie was on hand to present them on Friday.

In our Religion lessons, we have been reviewing the Easter Story and we created these beautiful wreaths which show the journey of Jesus leading up to his death and resurrection.

In our Literacy time, we have been discussing the importance of writing using our senses to engage our readers in our writing. The students had a great time brainstorming some of the things that they could taste, touch, see, smell, hear and feel in a given scenario.

Students will begin writing their narratives this week and they are very excited to put into action all that we have been talking about the past weeks.
