Week 7 Is Here!

Good morning and welcome to Week 7,

The days are certainly flying past at a rate of knots!

A few reminders for the coming weeks to keep track of everything.

St Mary MacKillop Orientation Day - is on this Wednesday 23rd November. You will have received information from St Mary MacKillop directly giving you all the information that you need for the day. I look forward to hearing all about it on Thursday.

Book Week Dress Up Day - this is on this Thursday 24th November. The theme is Australian Story or Australian Hero. I am looking forward to celebrating this fun day with the students.

Graduation Dinner Notes - please make sure that these are returned as soon as possible. The Year 5 parents are busily planning a fantastic event for us and they need to know numbers. Please make sure that you indicate any dietary requirements.

Just an advance warning that the dress code is smart casual for the evening.

Gravity & Xscape to the Cape Excursion - please make sure that all notes and money are returned as soon as possible.

St Vincent de Paul Christmas Hamper Appeal - I posted on our blog last week looking for donations for this Appeal. The Year 4/5 and 6's are asked to bring in toiletry items that can be given to families in our community in need.

We enjoyed a fantastic day at GMAS last Friday playing in the Milo T20 Cricket Blast competition. The students had a great time meeting other students and I think we have some hidden talent that may have the Australian Cricket Selectors calling soon!

The students played in good spirit and were very supportive and encouraging of all students! They represented OLC very well!

OUR LEARNING

We have been working very hard creating Informative Texts in our literacy time. The students have been asked to choose a topic and then write about it. There has been a wide range of topics chosen and I am looking forward to reading them! I am sure that I will learn a lot about cows, the Bermuda Triangle, Australia, tigers, the guitar and ukulele to name just a few.

HOMEWORK

Please see below the homework that has been assigned for this week:

Reading - Read for 10-15 minutes each night and have this written in your diary to be signed by parents.
Spelling - No Monday homework
Maths - Complete Pages 6-7 of New Wave Mental Book 6
Mathletics - Spend 10 minutes working through the assigned tasks.
Year Book - Work through assigned pages. Completed Year Books are due Monday 28th November.
