Term 1, Week 8

Hi Parents and students,

I hope you all had a great weekend!

Affirmation of the Week:

Camp:
I am still on the hunt for some dad volunteers for the Year 6 camp. Let me know if you are interested.

Literacy:

Under this section you will find the literacy learning intentions for the week.

CAFÉ-R (Traits of good readers)
The comprehension strategy we will be focusing on this week is inferring. Inferring is when readers read between the lines and use the author’s clues to make meaning of a text.

Voices (Traits of good writers)
We are currently writing or typing our final copies of our narratives. Some students will need to finish this off at home during the week for their home learning.
Tomorrow we will begin exploring the common language features of poetry.

Numeracy

Under this section you will find the Numeracy learning intentions for the week.
This week, we are reviewing multiplication mental strategies. We will look at doubling and halving, multiples of ten and the split strategy.

Home Learning Grid
You will be able to find a copy of the ‘Week 7/8’ home learning grid under our home learning folder in One Note. All students will receive a hard copy to glue into their exercise books.
Please ensure your child is organised and staying on top of their Home learning Grid through regular discussions and checks. Please feel free to contact me if you require any clarification regarding the grid.

Merit Awards
Congratulations to Thomas Rawling and Hannah Vernon for last week's merit awards.

Enjoy the week,

Mr Jones
