Week 4 is Here!
Good morning Silver Room Parents,
Welcome to what is shaping up to be a very busy week 4! Just a couple of reminders about some important things coming up this week and beyond.
Thank you for all that you have done to support the students through the last couple of weeks with swimming!
Swimming Time Trials - we will be travelling to Geographe Leisure Centre on Tuesday 23rd February to complete our time trials which will facilitate the students being placed in the appropriate division. We will be leaving school promptly at 8.50am so if you can make sure that your child is dressed in their sports uniform with bathers/rashie and thongs on, (sneakers are to be brought so that students can put them on upon their arrival back at school). Please make sure that your child has applied sunscreen before coming to school, I will also take some with me.
Please see the pink note that was sent home by Mrs Sinclair on Friday for further details. These permission slips need to be returned by tomorrow.
Year 6 Leadership Retreat - this will be held in in class on Wednesday 24th February. Students will be allowed to wear free dress on this day. We will begin at 9am and conclude for lunch at 12.45pm.
Swimming Carnival - this will be held on Thursday 25th February at Geographe Leisure Centre. Please read the note from Mrs Sinclair that outlines all relevant information.
Leavers Shirts - please note that all shirts must be in by Friday 26th February so that I can deliver them to Hip Pocket so that we can get them as soon as possible. Please make sure that you have included your payment of $12.
Reading Eggspress - today the students received their log in details for Reading Eggspress. This is a school program that students in Years 4-6 are able to access to choose from a wide variety of books in different genres. I ask that students read from here on at least two occasions per week. Students are welcome to do more than this if they like. This will be counted as their reading for that night.
Music - On Monday's the students have music with Mrs Horrocks and it is very important that students bring their guitars each week. Mrs Horrocks is concerned that a number of students are forgetting their guitar each week, understandably this makes it difficult for her to conduct her lessons. If you can please assist your child with remembering their guitar each week, we would be most appreciative.
P&F Sundowner - is on this Friday at Simmo's! It would be great to see as many families there as possible!!
In our Literacy time over the past weeks we have been looking at Narrative structure and purpose. The students are loving our class novel Rowan of Rin and they are enjoying the themes of overcoming adversity and challenging preconceived ideas that we are exploring.
We have been discussing what makes a narrative great and we spent some time brainstorming a list of Never Ending Ideas to help us with our writing...here are some photos of us hard at work!
The students are looking forward to using these great ideas to begin creating Narratives of their own!
